코로나19 검사를 받아야 한다면 어떻게 해야할까? 펜실베니아주에서는 먼저 펜주 코로나19 전화상담소  1-877-PA-HEALTH (1-877-724-3258)으로 전화를 하면된다.

전화를 받은 공중보건 전문가가 상담자의 자세한 증상을 들어보고 검사가 필요하다고 판단되면 병원이나 닥터 오피스같은 검사 장소를 알려준다. 그리고 나서 이 상담자가 해당 의료기관에 방문하기 전에 병원 종사자나 다른 방문자들과 직접 노출되지 않도록 사전에 조율해준다.

각 주마다 코로나19 의심증상이 있을 경우에 검사를 하는데 증상이 없을 경우에는  각 상담자의 사정에 따라 검사여부가 결정된다. 

펜실베이나주는 코로나19 감염여부를 검사하는 공립과 민간 실험실이 있다. 펜주의 공립 실험실은 주정부의 검사자격 인가를 받아야 한다.

A public health professional will speak with you and determine if and where you should go for testing, such as the hospital or doctor’s office, and can then coordinate arrival at the healthcare facility to ensure you, the healthcare workers, and other visitors to the facility are all properly protected to prevent further exposures.
• The state typically only tests people who are symptomatic. If you are not symptomatic, decisions are made on a case by case basis.
• Pennsylvania has both public and private labs that can conduct tests. The state public lab requires approval by the health department for testing.
• Results from the state lab can be available in less than a day -- testing takes on average four to six hours.
